Plug & Play
Recent releases of the Media Timer software include a new time-saving feature, "Plug & Play".
Plug & Play is a hassle-free way to get your media playing on a Media Timer. Simply insert a USB storage device containing your media inside a folder named "autoplay" and the Media Timer will automatically play that media.
Playing your media takes as little as 30s with Plug & Play.
Media Timers are available to purchase from our online shop.
AdaptableOS redesign
AdaptableOS has recently undergone a large upgrade.
Improvements in playback performance and new features have contributed to the best operating system we have offered to date.
The visual design and user experience have seen much work and the resulting interface is clean and clear. The foundational aesthetic of "lo-fi" terminal user interfaces (TUIs) has been continued in recent releases and enhanced with further development to the Media Timer TUI software and the addition of other open source TUI software.
The underlying Debian Linux base-system has been upgraded to Debian 13 and the new display compositor, Weston, has replaced the older X11 server. These upgrades allow AdaptableOS to support up-to-date hardware and offer significant visual performance improvements.
EQ & Volume
AdaptableOS now comes with EQ and volume controls.
Whilst previous versions of AdaptableOS did include volume control, we knew that technical users would need more granular options.
EQ can now be easily controlled by using the amixer TUI, offering 10 frequency-bands with sliders.
Duplicating Schedules
Developments to the Media Timer software have made it quick and easy to copy schedules across different days and to import and export schedules.
Previously schedule-sharing between Media Timers was complicated and arcane. If your playback context included the use of many Media Timers working to the same schedule, the setup could take time. Now the Media Timer software has in-built duplication and import and export functions.
In the "Advanced Schedule" section of the Media Timer software there are now menu entries and additional features to aid users by making the duplication of schedules between days and the import and export of schedules simple.
